Giants Taken Down, 5-0, by Cincinnati
|
The Cincinnati Reds downed the San Francisco Giants, 5-0, at Dr. Pepper Stadium. Cincinnati pitcher Nelson Campos definitely brought his A-game. Campos, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing no runs. The save went to Nate Lederer, his 1st this season.
Cincinnati used a big swing from Joe Cox to get the win. The designated hitter walloped a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Reds up, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it changed the outcome.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Campos.
Cincinnati has a record of 2-4.
