The Seattle Mariners defeated the Houston Astros, 9-4. Right Fielder Robby Abila deserved a large share of the credit. Abila was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Mariners. Dan Hamrick was the winner. He's now 1-0. The loser was 29-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Quintanilla. The loss drops Houston to 1-1.

The Astros had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Mariners going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Josiah Bedolla came to the plate. Bedolla hit a 2-run home run on a 1-2 changeup from Houston hurler Juan Quintanilla. It was Bedolla's 1st home run of the year.

"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Abila told the Seattle Herald.
