Flying Squirrels Cut Down Fisher Cats, 5-2

The Richmond Flying Squirrels beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 5-2. Richmond pitcher and Thorsby, Alabama, native Khalil Francois led the way. The winner was Francois. He threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Bob Beach. Danny Mendez locked down his 21st save.
The Flying Squirrels had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 5-2, Richmond, with no one out. New Hampshire, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Brad Werle dug in at the plate, but on a 2-1 sinker, he flied out.
With the win over New Hampshire, the Flying Squirrels improved to 58-71.
