Thanks in large part to catcher Tim Deveney, the Richmond Flying Squirrels beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 8-3. Deveney went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Frank Villegas earned his 4th save in 7 chances. The Flying Squirrels go to 56-71, putting them 4th in the Eastern League Western Division.
Josh Blake went 1 for 4 for Richmond. The 27-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring single off Mitch Walker. It was his 54th hit of the season.
"It's fun when you can help the team win games," said Deveney.
