The Bowie Baysox used the hitting of left fielder Malik Gardner to subdue the Akron RubberDucks, 6-4. For the game, Gardner went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Bob Carrion earned the save for Bowie. Akron is in the throes of a losing streak which has reached 9 games.
Gardner had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a first pitch slider from Dermot Tanner, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Baysox a 5-3 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Gardner.
