Senators Top Yard Goats, 1-0
|
The Harrisburg Senators took Hartford pitcher Rich Diaz's best shot and still were able to claim a win at FNB Field. The final score had Harrisburg getting past the Yard Goats, 1-0. Diaz went 7 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 2. Brad Leach was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Rich Diaz. The Senators, now 60-48, have won 4 in a row.
Tied up with the Yard Goats in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Senators got a boost from catcher Jeremy Andre. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Andre saw a full count cutter from Rich Diaz and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Harrisburg on top, 1-0.
"We were trying to do a difficult thing -- winning a game without scoring," said Hartford manager . "That's not going to work out."
