The Reading Fightin Phils topped the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 5-2, with second baseman Nate Frey playing a big role. Frey went 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk for the Fightin Phils in the win. Mike Sorrick was the winner. Over 6 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Jeremy Mixon was credited with the save, his 14th in 20 tries.

It could have been a different outcome for Reading, had it not been for Jon Melin, the 21-year old left fielder . Melin contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put Reading up, 4-2.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Melin said.

The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Fightin Phils.
