Sea Dogs Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Thunder, 6-5
The Portland Sea Dogs defeated the Trenton Thunder, 6-5, at Hadlock Field. Pat Taylor, who is tied for 6th in the EL with a .331 batting average, was a standout performer for Portland. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 2 he knocked in. Raul Motley, 3-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Chris King got the save, the 15th for him this season.

Taylor had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch sinker from Nelson L Gilmore, he banged a run-scoring double to right, giving the Sea Dogs a 6-5 lead. It was the 12th double of the year for Taylor.

"Good, blue-collar kind of win," said Sea Dogs manager .

The third-place Sea Dogs sport a record of 59-45.
