SeaWolves Absorb 5-3 Home Loss
|
The Hartford Yard Goats topped the Erie SeaWolves by a score of 5-3. Leading the way was shortstop Brad Hudak. Hudak was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs for the Yard Goats. The Yard Goats have now won 5 straight.
Eric Carpenter had a big 2-run double for the Yard Goats in the top of the second inning. With Hartford leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Vinny Valdes, who is tied for 5th in the EL in strikeouts with 70, and swatted a double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Yard Goats ahead, 4-0.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Carpenter told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
