Richmond Defeats Reading, 6-4
|
The umbrellas came out during the Richmond-Reading contest at FirstEnergy Stadium.
The Richmond Flying Squirrels topped the Reading Fightin Phils, 6-4, in Eastern League action at FirstEnergy Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Richmond first baseman Ricky Hurt. Jalen Jackson got the win, improving to 4-8. He worked 7 innings, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Picking up the save was Mike Newberg, his 9th.
In the top of the third, the Flying Squirrels took the lead, 4-2, when 25-year old second baseman Mike Sgarlata drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Hurt said after the game.
The Flying Squirrels move to 49-51 with the win, while the Fightin Phils drop to 50-50.
