Not everyone stuck through the 66-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.

Altoona beat Trenton at People's Natural Gas Field, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Jamie Carey. He was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Kevin Shaffer earned the save for Altoona, his 17th of the year.

Had Jim Mercado not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Mercado hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Curve.

"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Carey.

Altoona has a record of 54-45, placing them second in the Eastern League Western Division.
