The Altoona Curve reigned over the Portland Sea Dogs in damp conditions.

The Altoona Curve rode a solid performance from 25-year-old starting pitcher Julio Alejandro Poston to a win, beating the Portland Sea Dogs, 3-0, at People's Natural Gas Field. Victor Gaitan was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.

The Curve got a big at-bat from center fielder Adan Varela. For the game, Varela went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Altoona a 2-0 lead.

"Julio Alejandro pitched like a champ," said Altoona manager .

Altoona is now 54-41.
