Thunder Topple Curve, 6-4
|
The Trenton Thunder besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Altoona shortstop Jonathan Ramos by beating the Curve, 6-4, at Arm & Hammer Park. Ramos went 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. George Spence picked up the win, lifting his record to 6-1 on the season. He struck out 1 and walked 3 in 5.1 innings, while yielding 4 runs. Dan Tenney picked up the save, his 3rd.
The Trenton win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Dan Boomsma. In the bottom of the fifth, the Trenton right fielder came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 5-3 lead.
"This is a very good team," said Boomsma. "We have the chance to do something special."
With the win, Trenton pushed its record to 44-28.
