Akron beat Binghamton on the strength of starting pitcher Doug McNally's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 2-0. The winner was McNally. He threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Oscar Vargas. Akron, at 20-32, occupies 5th place in the Eastern League Western Division.
Akron first baseman Mike Gehman landed a blow when he belted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. It was his 5th home run of the season. With it, the RubberDucks took a 2-0 lead.
