The skies opened up and the rain fell at Hadlock Field.

Akron ruined an otherwise fine effort from Steve Semenza by toppling Portland, 6-2. The Portland pitcher threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner was Akron reliever Dermot Tanner, now 2-1. The loser was Chris King.

Ben Inglis drove in one run for Akron. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Inglis had a clutch at-bat. Facing Portland hurler Chris King, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the RubberDucks a 3-2 lead.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Inglis said after the game.

The 5th-place RubberDucks sport a record of 23-31.
