Braves Score Late, Stun Nationals, 9-6
|
Atlanta designated hitter Jim Harper helped his team beat the Washington Nationals, 9-6. Harper, who finished 3rd in the NL in OPS with .892 in 2057, went 3 for 4 for the Braves. The second-place Nationals have lost 5 consecutive games.
Atlanta got a game-changing hit from Chris Thornton. The right fielder blasted a grand slam home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a winner.
Afterward, Washington manager Deran Sanchez said: "We've hit a rough patch."
