The New York Yankees bombarded the Carolina Stingrays, 14-3, at The Nucor Dome. Leading the blitz was Robby Fitzhugh. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for New York. New York goes to 94-66. The win puts them 3 games up in their division.

The Yankees got an important contribution from designated hitter Josh Wood, who in the top of the fifth hit a fastball to center for a 3-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 9-2.

"We take it day by day here," said Fitzhugh, "and today was a good one for us."
