Yankees Lose at Home, 4-1
|
The Boston Red Sox went home winners at Yankee Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Hector Rivera. Rivera stifled the New York Yankees, enabling Boston to grab the 4-1 win. Rivera got the win, improving to 3-8. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Sal Robles collected save number 2.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Nate Hawksworth? The Boston catcher had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 2-1. For the game, Hawksworth had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Hawksworth. "But I have better dreams after a win."
Boston now sports a record of 72-83.
