Detroit took on Toronto in front of a lively crowd.

The Detroit Tigers got a good effort from starter Sam Ward in defeating the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. The final score was 4-2. Joe Reardon sewed up the save, his 17th.

Detroit used a well-timed hit by Belay Gyasi to capture the win. The third baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Tigers ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"I liked his command," said Detroit manager Fraser Stewart. "Sam was throwing strikes."

The win puts the Tigers at 67-85, while the Blue Jays drop to 84-68.
