Canenguez Slugs 2 Home Runs, Orioles Beat Astros, 9-1
|
Kevin Canenguez helped his team muscle past the Houston Astros, 9-1. In the game, the Baltimore shortstop went 3-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Steve Fennell, who went 7.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 3 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 16-8. The Orioles go to 59-92 with the win.
Baltimore used the clutch hitting of Ed Clapp to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Orioles the lead, 2-1. For the game, Clapp had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"We played hard and won," said Canenguez. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
