Win Goes to Angels in Tight Contest
|
The Los Angeles Angels knocked off the Boston Red Sox, 8-6, in American League action at Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Stadium. Los Angeles pitcher and Rohnert Park, California, native Mike Keating had an outstanding performance. Sid Sobczak snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 1.2 innings. He's now 9-5 on the season. Victor Cirilo wrapped it up, recording his 38th save.
Dan Justice, who is tied for 3rd in the AL with a .930 OPS, chipped in a 3-run home run for Los Angeles in the bottom of the third. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"Mike did a really nice job of taking the ball and giving us a chance to win the game," said Los Angeles manager Cameron Angels GM.
Los Angeles, at 100-51, is 13 games up in the American League West Division.
