Detroit Doubles Up Carolina, 8-4
|
The home team was supported by a raucous crowd at Comerica Park.
The Detroit Tigers defeated the Carolina Stingrays, 8-4, at Comerica Park. Leading the charge for Detroit was first baseman Brad Haney. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The third-place Tigers now have a win-loss record of 66-84.
Haney contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Detroit in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 2-0, Haney took a curveball from Joel Stewart and stroked the home run to right-center. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Tigers to leap in front, 4-2.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Haney told the Detroit Daily.
