Cleveland second baseman Phil Blue helped his team beat the Detroit Tigers, 9-6. Blue, who finished 4th in the AL in OPS with .930 last year, went 3 for 4 for the Bobcats. Cleveland pitcher Raul Fernandes got the win, upping his record to 9-9. Robby Ramirez got the loss. The 4th-place Bobcats improved to 57-90.

With Cleveland leading 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth, Blue hit a 2-run single off Detroit hurler Kevin Thomson. It was the 141st hit of the season for Blue and put his team ahead, 7-4.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Blue.
