Mets Tack 4-2 Loss on Chicago
|
The Chicago Cubs got a superb performance from pitcher David Flores, but the New York Mets still won the game, 4-2. Flores threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Jim Canfield claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. His record stands at 9-3. The last-place Mets lifted their record to 66-77.
New York used the timely hitting of Jeff Bernas to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mets on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"When there are games to be won, you win them," said New York manager Kenneth Rosario.
