Comerica Park was the site for American League action featuring the Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers.

The Detroit Tigers defeated the Texas Rangers, 11-5, at Comerica Park. Detroit shortstop Tony Rodriquez had a superb performance. He went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Walt Mills picked up the win, improving his season record to 11-7. He struck out 6 in 6.1 innings.

Kevin Weeks, who is a two-time All-Star, contributed to the Detroit win with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the catcher had 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.

"When the ball finds the sweet spot," said Rodriquez, "I can't complain."

The third-place Tigers now have a record of 58-82.
