Thunder Lose Versus Akron, 5-4
|
The Akron RubberDucks defeated the Trenton Thunder, 5-4, in Eastern League action at Canal Park. Akron pitcher Josh Hammond had a standout performance. Geoff Hansen closed it out for Akron, earning his 7th save. The 5th-place RubberDucks are 16-27.
Had Mike Furrer not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Furrer hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the RubberDucks.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Furrer told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
