Close Win Moves Astros to 59-61
|
The Houston Astros had to overcome a good performance from Seattle pitcher Dan Hamrick to claim a 3-2 win at T-Mobile Park. Hamrick went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. The win went to Walt Walkama in relief. His record improves to 6-6. Dan Hamrick took the loss. Pat Bartsch converted his 28th save in 30 tries.
Houston used the timely hitting of Rory Oakland to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Astros on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
After the game, Houston manager Ron Astros GM applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The Astros improved their record to 59-61 by beating Seattle.
