Nationals Lose to Phillies, 7-2
|
Philadelphia parlayed a decent outing from starter Steve Tabler into a solid win over the Washington Nationals. The final score was 7-2. Tabler, now 10-9, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Philadelphia now sits at 57-59, while Washington falls to 62-55.
In the bottom of the sixth, Philadelphia designated hitter Billy Herman gave his team the lead. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Meggsy hit his 26th home run of the year. Washington pitcher Zach Lentini surrendered it. With that, the Phillies jumped in front, 4-2.
"I just kind of blacked out and executed my pitches," said Tabler.
