Marlins Handle Phillies, Nab 4-3 Win
|
The Miami Marlins did just enough to sneak past the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-3, at James Quall Stadium. Miami pitcher Mike Vass, in particular, had a standout performance. Miami reliever Gene Hinkle picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Mike Grey absorbed the loss. Phil Larsen locked down his 3rd save.
Bobby Abbink drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate. He drove in 2 runs against the Phillies. With the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run that put Miami in front, 4-3.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Vass.
At 56-60, the Marlins are currently third in the National League East Division.
