Philadelphia got a terrific game from first baseman Josh Elliott. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Chicago, 6-3. Elliott went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Marco Oviedo earned the save for Chicago, his 15th. The win puts the Cubs at 45-65, while the Phillies drop to 56-54.

In the top of the fifth, Chicago center fielder Mike Keller had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Keller stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 3-1, Chicago. For the game, he went 1 for 4.

Chicago manager Mike Leitao was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
