Phillies Deal Mets 7-3 Setback
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets.
Philadelphia second baseman Mike Reinert contributed significantly to his team's 7-3 win over the New York Mets. Reinert, who finished 3rd in the NL in triples with 8 last year, went 4 for 5 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Phillies. Kory Sizelove, the winner, is now 10-5. He struck out 6 and walked 1 over 6.1 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 5 hits.
Early in the game, Reinert had a bases-clearing triple for Philadelphia. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the Phillies on top, 3-0.
Phillies manager Chris Berry praised Reinert after the game. "I keep telling everyone," he said, "'Don't go to sleep on this kid.'"
The second-place Phillies hiked their record to 54-47.
