The Las Vegas Athletics overcame a good performance by Los Angeles center fielder Frank Gonzalez to knock off Los Angeles, 9-7, at Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Stadium. Gonzalez was 2-4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Jamel Smith, who is tied for 10th in the AL in saves with 15, nailed down the save. Las Vegas has a record of 52-46, placing them third in the American League West Division.

Mike McDevitt came through with a big-time hit for Las Vegas. The left fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 7-6. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I just try to bring what I bring to this team," said McDevitt.
