Riding the 3-hit performance of third baseman Jeff Felger, the Greensboro Grasshoppers stopped the visiting Asheville Tourists, 7-6, in Game 2 of the Round 1. Felger went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Grasshoppers, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
Danny Beaver, the Greensboro first baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 3-2, Grasshoppers. For the game, Beaver was 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"We're not going to sweep 'em," Beaver said in response to a question after the game. "Asheville is too good not to take a game somewhere."
Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at McCormick Field in Asheville.
