Chicago Slaps 2-0 Loss on Twins
|
Richter Field hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
Chicago Cubs pitcher Dusty Weaver was in top form, leading his team past the Minnesota Twins, 2-0. In 6 innings, Weaver surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. Earning his 12th save for Chicago was Israel Trujillo.
Chicago used a big swing from Jake Keating to get the win. The catcher walloped a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Cubs up, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it changed the outcome.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Weaver. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
The second-place Cubs improved to 54-39.
