Ludwig Good, But Not Good Enough, in 12-11 Loss
The Washington Nationals had to overcome a big game from Baltimore center fielder Max Ludwig to leave Nationals Park with a victory. And they did, winning, 12-11. Ludwig hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5. Andy Bonsack closed out the game, earning his 28th save. The first-place Nationals have a record of 57-33.

The Orioles had been locked in a 8-8 tie with the Nationals going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old left fielder Chris Blanton came to the plate. Blanton hit a 2-run double on a first pitch slider from Baltimore hurler Cesar Cejas. It was Blanton's 18th double of the year.

Blanton told a Washington Daily reporter that the win made him feel "exuberant."
