Getting offensive support from David Alarcon, the Boston Red Sox topped the Washington Nationals, 11-4. Alarcon was 3-5 with a triple and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Red Sox. Boston is now 49-41. Washington is 38-53.

Alarcon contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing double, for Boston in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Alarcon took a slider from Marcus Spence and stroked the double to center. His 26th double of the season allowed the Red Sox to leap in front, 3-1.
