Cardinals Grind Out 1-0 Win
|
The St. Louis Cardinals claimed a close win over the Detroit Tigers, due in large part to Ben Foley. The St. Louis left-hander pitched a great game to secure the 1-0 win. Randy Rijos nailed down the save. The Cardinals raised their record to 36-56.
Jeff Koelsch drove in one run for St. Louis. The 23-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Walt Mills. It was his 18th RBI of the season.
St. Louis manager Ryan Nawrocki commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
