Chicago Defeated By Cubs, 7-2
|
Caterpillar Field was the site for National League action featuring the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs.
Chicago pitcher J.D. DeBlaey had a large part in his team subduing the Chicago White Sox, 7-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. DeBlaey got the win, improving to 4-0. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 5 innings. He allowed 2 runs.
Steve McKendrick had a big 3-run home run for the Cubs in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Chicago trailing 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Jimmy McGraw and punished it. The result was his 11th home run of the season, which put the Cubs on top, 3-2.
"For the most part, I didn't think they knew what was coming," said DeBlaey.
With the win, Chicago raised its record to 47-43.
