Snappers Lose as Kernels Stage Late Rally
|
Conditions were not ideal but Cedar Rapids and Beloit were able to put their game in the books.
Cedar Rapids turned a good effort from starter Josh Pierce into a win over the Beloit Snappers at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The final score was 4-2. Cedar Rapids reliever Jose de Leon picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Tony Wagner was saddled with the loss.
Cedar Rapids took the lead, 4-2, on Danny Sanchez's 5th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Beloit pitcher Tony Wagner in the bottom of the eighth.
In postgame comments, Pierce told the Cedar Rapids Daily: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
The Kernels raised their record to 88-50.
