Lugnuts Rally Late to Clip Dayton
|
The Lansing Lugnuts did just enough to sneak past the Dayton Dragons, 7-6, at Day Air Ballpark. Lansing shortstop Jake Schutte, in particular, had a standout performance. Josh Brown, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 16th save. With this game in the books, Lansing is 83-55, Dayton 59-79.
Schutte had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 0-1 slider from Leon Ortez, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Lugnuts a 7-6 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for Schutte.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Lansing manager .
