Carolina Stingrays starter Jon Diaz pitched a strong game against the Minnesota Twins at The Nucor Dome, leading the Stingrays to victory, 1-0. Carolina reliever Dave Colson picked up the win, upping his record to 5-8. Steve Fennell absorbed the loss. Juan Alvarez got the save, his 21st in 23 chances.

Had Ben Leal not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Leal hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Stingrays.

"Banging out wins is what it's all about," said Leal.

With the win, Carolina goes to 45-35, while the Twins fall to 41-40.
