Padres Lose Versus Chicago, 5-1
|
The Chicago Cubs picked up a win at Caterpillar Field, knocking off the San Diego Padres, 5-1. Starting pitcher Jonathan Brown was a big reason why. The Cubs are now 47-34, while the Padres fall to 40-39.
The Cubs got an important contribution from designated hitter Evan Perry, who in the bottom of the second hit a fastball to center for a 2-run double. It was his 16th double of the season and put the Cubs ahead, 4-0.
Brown said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
