The Kane County Cougars defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 5-3, in 10 innings. Doing his part was left fielder Steve Levingston, who went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win was credited to 24-year old right-handed pitcher Alan Shackett in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Tony Royal took the loss. Earning his 10th save for Kane County was Jody Weedman.

The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Levingston delivered big-time for Kane County, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Tony Royal. The game-changing hit put the Cougars on top, 4-3.

Said Kane County manager : "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."

The loss makes Bowling Green 30-83.
