Chiefs Absorb 3-0 Home Loss
|
In a low-scoring contest between the South Bend Cubs and the Peoria Chiefs, 24-year old left-handed pitcher Mitch Motsinger proved to be the difference. The South Bend left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-0 Cubs win. Jon Lewy collected his 6th save. South Bend has a record of 74-27, placing them first in the Midwest League Eastern Division.
South Bend used a well-timed hit by Orlando Galindo to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Cubs ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Motsinger. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
