Blue Jays Top White Sox, 3-0
|
The 3-0 Toronto win over Chicago was due in large part to Amitosa Preetinder. The Blue Jays right fielder went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Chris Peacock was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 16 save opportunities. The Blue Jays saw their win-loss record go to 47-34. At the same time, the White Sox fell to 44-35.
Toronto used the hitting of Eric Castillo to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 2-0. For the game, Castillo had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We were trying to do a difficult thing -- winning a game without scoring," said Chicago manager Ken Hanson. "That's not going to work out."
