Lugnuts Win, Guevara hits 2 home runs
|
The 9-5 Lansing win over Lake County was due largely to Johnny Guevara. The Lugnuts first baseman belted 2 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice. The winner in relief was Chris Catena. He is now 5-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. Jose Romero picked up his 23rd save of the season.
The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Guevara delivered big-time for Lansing, stroking a dramatic grand slam home run off Mike Larson. The game-changing hit put the Lugnuts on top, 9-5.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Guevara told the Lansing Chronicle.
The first-place Lugnuts hiked their record to 62-32.
