New Hampshire beat Akron at Canal Park, eking out a 6-5 win. The triumph was primarily due to shortstop Rich Fernandez. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. New Hampshire now sits at 19-11, while Akron falls to 11-19.

Josh Swarts had a key at-bat with two out in the top of the second for New Hampshire. With the bases loaded and the Fisher Cats leading 2-0, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Swarts told the New Hampshire Daily.
