|
The Lansing Lugnuts took on the Dayton Dragons at Cooley Law School Stadium.
Jesus Valenzuela had a strong outing for the Lansing Lugnuts against the Dayton Dragons at Cooley Law School Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-2 win. Ruben Acuna, now 1-3, was credited with the win in 0.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. Josh Oakland earned his 20th save, after closing out the game.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Andy Thiem came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Dayton pitcher Bill Somers, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Lansing on top, 3-2.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Thiem.
After today's action, Lansing sits at 48-41, while Dayton falls to 36-53.
