Blue Jays Top Yankees in Extras, 6-4
|
The Toronto Blue Jays took Josh Garner's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Yankee Stadium. The final score had Toronto getting past the Yankees, 6-4, in 13 innings. Garner over 6 innings allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 6. Butch Ball earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record is now 3-3. Beau Hunt finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Dylan Philippi? The slick-fielding center fielder Philippi stroked a 2-run double in the top of the 13th inning to put Toronto up, 6-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
In postgame comments, Philippi said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
At 43-36, the Blue Jays claim third place in the American League East Division.
