With 5-2 Win, Twins Go to 41-34
|
The Minnesota Twins picked up a win at Richter Field, downing the Kansas City Royals, 5-2. On the mound for Minnesota was right-hander Gene Parker, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner was Parker. He threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Chris Saunders. Minnesota now owns a record of 41-34.
The Twins got a big at-bat from right fielder Sam Pinion. For the game, Pinion went 2-3 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 27th double of the season gave Minnesota a 2-1 lead.
"When you have a good rhythm and good flow, it's nice to just go out there and pound the strike zone with confidence," said Parker.
