The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers finished off the Quad Cities River Bandits, 5-3, in 10 innings. A good share of the credit went to designated hitter Aldred van Velthoven. van Velthoven went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk for the Timber Rattlers. Tim Strong, credited with the win in relief, is now 8-4. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Cortez Saldana closed the game out for Wisconsin, earning his 1st save.
van Velthoven broke a deadlock in the top of the tenth inning, when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run, putting Wisconsin up, 4-3.
"A lot to like, just frustrated that we came up short," said Quad Cities manager .
The third-place River Bandits now sit at 47-38.
